“we are our ancestors.”
many of us come from peoples who have both plundered and been plundered, exploited and been exploited, oppressed and been oppressed.
many of our ancestors have departed the land upon which they were born in search of new beginnings, different land upon which to be the scaffolding upon which future generations are raised.
this departure can involve immense gain and immense loss — a leaving behind and an opening up to what can be found. cultures forgotten, hidden, integrated, assimilated, disregarded and cultures discovered, created, integrated, assimilated, imposed, all as a part of human (r)evolution, survival.
and
the severed root seeks reunion.
